Art – I was always puzzled by the meaning of this word, not only due in part by the creativity and imagination of those that create it, but also due to the limitless forms, shapes, and colors that art can take on. I am not an artist, at least not until a point in my life when I came to the realization that many of the daily tasks and experiences in our lives produce this incredible residual effect of skills and inspiration to do things out of the ordinary. So, the development of my skills began in my childhood while growing up in a ranch in northern Argentina. Although duct tape was not available, pliers and wire were. Recycling was not a fashionable word but the norm particularly when you had to address problems right then with what you had around you. Fast forward to the present and with a greater “residual” number of skills and inspiration, I could not resist the temptation of doing things with the incredible amount of recyclable materials present today, particularly in this country. Thus, I took on the challenge to give meaningful value to metal, wood, and glass objects that, by themselves, did not say much. By repurposing and combining these materials not only have I made them useful again but also I have apparently created art in the process.
Thank you for observing some of my “residual” value!
